Hands of Tym

Hands of Tym is a luxury leather goods operation focusing on ‘one by one’ humanised manufacture. Every piece unique and handmade. Using only the finest materials sourced as locally as our surviving supply chains will allow, our artistry is based on combining the traditional techniques of leather craft with a modern design aesthetic where functionality is key. Bringing ownership of craft back to the individual, reversing a division of labour and ensuring every piece holds a unique bond to the maker. Dreamt up in 2010 and realised in 2016 following a varied career in Accessories design and development. Founding Leathersmith is Designer Georgie Tym, a Cordwainers graduate on a private endeavour to keep English craft and industry alive. Georgie works as Leather Accessories Technical lecturer at the London College of Fashion and continues to work on private bespoke work alongside the development of the Hands of Tym brand.

Occasionally there may be a little finishing off of projects at home depending on how the session works out. Our tutors are experienced leathercrafters and knowledgeable about the subject and are always happy to discuss specific ways to adapt the projects to your interests.

Kingsley Walters London

The Kingsley Walters brand was founded in 2015. Whilst studying tailoring and learning the traditional methods of working with leather, I quickly became captivated with leather craftsmanship and the versatility and longevity of leather as a material. What initially began as a hobby – making small items for myself and friends – soon turned into a business, as I began to receive bespoke orders by word of mouth. Making further investment in traditional saddlery tools, I have been able to create small capsule collections, as well as lead workshops on leather craftmanship. As a craftsman, I make practical and durable pieces by hand, utilising traditional methods. Each product is hand-cut and stitched with my own beeswax coated thread. All the leather used is sourced locally – traceable to source and purchased here in London.
