The UK Government has issued a policy statement on its migration policy; this can be found here.
As outlined in the previously circulated proposal, this sets a minimum salary threshold (in most cases) of £25,600 and provides very limited and specific routes for ‘low-skilled’ workers. The implications for our sector, and other others such as the fashion sector, could be serious. Recruitment of domestic workers to the manufacturing sector is increasingly challenging and, in a high employment economy, will become more so following the implementation of this policy.
We will continue to monitor the situation but please make us aware of any difficulties you encounter as a result of this policy.
