The 4th World Leather Congress (WLC) is being held on Tuesday 16 July 2019, at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, (Downtown Manhattan) New York.
New York was a fairly straightforward choice for a venue, due to the city's ease of access, the facilities, the link-up with Lineapelle New York and the potential audience of designers, buyers and consumers. The organising committee comprises representatives from LIA, USHSLA, UNIC/Lineapelle and ICT.
The theme of the Congress is “Leather in everyday life”. There is a growing consensus within the leather industry that consumers in general - and especially young consumers - do not understand leather. The Congress will tell the story of leather – what it is, its heritage, versatility and place in modern society; also, how and why it is a sustainable material and why a number of key brands are so keen to utilise it in their products.
The objective of each World Leather Congresses has been to raise the profile of and to promote leather, the leather-producing industry and the International Council of Tanners. A particular goal of this 4th WLC is to deliver the positive story of leather to designers, brand specifiers and especially the younger generation.
Hundreds of delegates are registered and places are limited. For further information please see the event website here.
