Our colleagues at UKFT and the British Retail Consortium have produced some general guidance for planning a return to work and maintaining safe working distances in the workplace.
With this in mind, we would be grateful if you would advise regarding social distancing, what do you need from Government in terms of guidance, messaging, provision of PPE, additional financial support etc.
UKFT has worked with members, our dedicated employment advisor and external stakeholders to produce a checklist of issues for UK fashion and textile manufacturers to consider when planning a return to work. There is also a template Covid-19 Working Practices Guide, which will help manufacturers implement government advice. The recommendations outline measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of employees, as well as the wider community during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition to these measures, employers should have regular two-way communication with staff to identify and address opportunities for improvement. This document will be updated as the situation progresses and in response to developing government guidance. If you have any specific input, please email info@ukft.org with your suggestions. See the document here UKFT_Return_to_Work_document
The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has also produced guides for social distancing in retail and warehouses, which are attached here BRC_Warehouse_and_Distribution_Implementation_Practices_V2 and BRC_USDAW_implementation_practices_for_non_food_retail_stores.
