LHTBI Fundraising Cycling Event - June 24th to 28th 2020

The Leather & Hide Trades’ Benevolent Institution (LHTBI) is a charity founded in 1860 and we still send financial help to those elderly workers and their widows, who gave service to the leather-tanning industry during their working lives.

In recent years, we have organised two fundraising Cycling Events: in 2015, we cycled from London to Paris, and in 2018 we cycled from Chartres to St. Malo in France.

A third event is proposed for 25th-28th June 2020 from St. Malo to Nantes.  This would entail 3 days of cycling at approximately 70 miles per day, with hotels organised and great social meals in the evenings.

The cost per person will be £600 per person including a cycling Jersey. You will also be asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £150 for the LHTBI, plus you may raise funds for other charitable causes too.

10.00 am.  Cycle Chateaubriant to Nantes - 55 + miles!

Cycling south from Chateaubriant for about 35 miles until we reach the Loire.

Then there are various route options along either side of the Loire, so you can choose to do as much – or as little as you like!

Finish is by the Chateau des ducs de Bretagne in the centre of Nantes.

Overnight at the L’Hotel across the road from the chateau.

Review of the route

This is the most interesting route we have done (so far) with lots of rivers, canals, Chateaux and lots of green route riding.

Logistics

As an alternative to the overnight ferry, it may be possible to fly into Dinard (near St Malo) and return from Nantes (Stansted, Ryanair?).

The Hotel in Nantes is only a 5-minute walk from the TGV.

Bike transport will be available as previously arranged and the van will also transport your bag between hotels.
