Government support for the self employed

The UK government has just announced a package of support for the self-employed.

This will pay self-employed people with average profits of £50,000 or less:

• a taxable grant based on their previous earnings over the last three years
• up to 80% of earnings, and
• is capped at £2,500 a month.

This will be available for a minimum of 3 months and, to prevent fraud, will only be open to those who are already self-employed and have a tax return from 2019.
