As you will be aware, the Leathersellers' Company provide a wide range of funding to UK registered charities, educational institutions and students.
One such charity is the Creative Dimensions Trust, who amongst other things provide week-long courses in Leathercraft to disadvantaged young people during school holidays.
However, the majority of funds provided by Leathersellers' is spent on purchasing leather, not on funding the teaching of leathercraft. We're hoping to help them make their money go further by utilising some of the quality leather which is made surplus during your production process.
The course tutor says "I plan on making some belts/guitar straps which will need to be long pieces. Smaller pieces are always helpful too as they can be used to practise tooling on and for dye samples, as well as smaller projects if the students finish early. I was hoping to allow them to choose their own project with our guidance so varying sized pieces would be ideal".
Can you help?
The course is in February half-term and for around 10 students. If you feel you can provide a box or two of surplus leather offcuts (anything is welcomed), please send to Leather Trade House, Kings Park Road, Northampton, NN3 6JD.
This will be a great opportunity for us to see how our proposed Hide & Seek online swap-shop model may work - let's get this premium British leather out there and into the hands of students! Thank you.
