New video content to help keep your business moving
Doing business with Europe has changed. You need to follow new rules on exports, imports, tariffs, data and hiring.

All businesses can find out what has changed, and check their preparations, by visiting new video content from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The short, on-demand videos cover 18 topics, including importing and exporting, rules of origin and audit and accounting.

Business Information
HMRC support for businesses that trade with the EU 
HMRC will continue to provide support to help businesses adjust to the new rules and help keep their business moving. If businesses need more support, they can:

  • sign up to receive weekly trader updates that provide hints and tips on getting used to the new rules. There’s also information about where to access more support.
  • register for the free Trader Support Service if they’re moving goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland
  • attend one of our live webinars or watch one of our short films about importing and exporting.
  • use the Brexit checker on GOV.UK to understand HMRC processes for importing, exporting or customs relief and keep their business moving.
  • call HMRC’s Customs & International Trade Helpline and speak to an advisor on 0300 322 9434.

UPDATED: The UK Sanctions list: Information about the designations of some individuals, entities and ships has been amended. For more information, click here.

Moving Goods
UPDATED: Check which international road haulage permits you need: Guidance designed to help you find out which licences and permits you need to operate vehicles with a gross vehicle weight above 3.5 tonnes on international journeys from the UK has been updated. Serbia has been removed from the list of countries you can get a bilateral road haulage permit for. You can still apply for an European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT) permit for journeys to Serbia. For more information, click here.
UPDATED: European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT) international road haulage permits: The ‘check if you need ECMT permits’ guidance has been updated to provide clarification about when you need ECMT permits and what other options there are for other types of permits. Northern Ireland
UPDATED: Claim a waiver for duty on goods that you bring to Northern Ireland from Great Britain: Guidance has been updated with a new section on what to do if you exceed your allowance. For more information, click here.

Intellectual Property
UPDATED: Changes to international trademarks registrations after 1 January 2021: Guidance has been updated with comparable UK trademarks. For more information, click here.

Business Support Helpline
There are new rules for businesses doing business with the EU from 1 January, and you need to take action now.  To help you, a helpline has been set up.  For English businesses, the Business Support Helpline can help you identify the actions you need to take. Similar helplines are available for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Chemicals
UPDATED: Precursor chemicals wallchart for domestic licensing: Guidance on domestic licensing requirements has been updated. The domestic licensing wallchart has been updated to reflect changes to legislation since the UK left the EU. For more information, click here.

Life Sciences
UPDATED: Guidance on handing of Decentralised and Mutual Recognition Procedures which are approved or pending: 
Guidance has been updated to clarify that UK national MA applications can be submitted irrespective of applications for the same product in EU and clarification of options for ongoing procedures that were not completed by 31 December 2020. For more information, click here.

Food and Drink
UPDATED: How to export wild caught marine fishery products to the EU from 1 January 2021:
 The ‘One Stop Shop’ guidance document has been updated to the most recent version. For more information, click here.

Fishing
NEW: New financial support for the UK’s fishing businesses that export to the EU: 
£23 million has been made available to support businesses in the sector who have been affected by the Covid pandemic and adjusting to new export requirements. For more information, click here.

Tourism
NEW: Run international bus or coach services and tours: Guidance has been issued explain what UK bus and coach operators need  to provide services, tours, holidays and trips into Europe and other countries. For more information, click here.

  • The Border and Protocol Delivery Group (BPDG) are hosting a webinar on the movement of goods through non Short Straits locations on Wednesday 27 January 2021 from 2pm to 4pm. For more information and to register, click here.
